New Friends (Pat)

When I was little,
My view was small.

Then when we moved,
It became so tall.

So many new things,
All so scary.

Get along did I,
Just barely.

New school, new classroom,
New challenges, just thirteen.

New bed, new house,
Blue days in between.

Terrified and shaking, I did go
Until a new friend said, Hello!

Under her wing I was safe,
Finally, a smile on my face.

All mixed up

Some days turn upside down.
They start out great,
Then make you frown.

Pick yourself up if you fall,
No sense in letting things
Get you frazzled at all.

Smile, smile, then smile some more.
Pretty soon, the sunshine will
Be at your door.

Attitude is everything,
as my Daddy would say,
Keep on going, life is always
just one more day.

Winter Time

It is Morning. Crisp. Cold. Brutal. The Sun is at least shining.
Hot Coffee brewing, smelling divine.
Shivering as I awaken. Going through the motions.
Putting on clothes, socks and lotions.
Warming by the Hot, Hot Stove. The wood, crackling, burning.
Popping. Hot Cakes bubbling. The smell, yearning.
Cold Artic Winds make noses red.
Get through the Day, Whew! Time for Bed!
